Shameless Self Promotion

I know, I haven’t in a while, but read the tag line!  I’ve been working on my new book, Las Vegas – Cheap and Easy.  I’ve been working on this for over a year on and off and it’s nice to finally have it out the door.  It’s an ebook.  I’ve made a decision that ebooks are the way to go.  Real books are a dying breed.

I hope I’ve managed to put together a helpful book that will bring a lot of value to people.  My premise was that normal travel guides were kind of useless for Las Vegas.  They just go out of date so quickly.  I worked in Vegas for years and saw just how fast things changed.

Not just tearing down and building new casinos, but inside the casinos too.  One day there’s a restaurant and seemingly the next, it’s a poker room.  If you bought a typical travel guide just a year ago, it’s out of date.  Now you need to buy another?  Screw that.

I’ve tried to explain how to use the resources on the internet to not only get the best Las Vegas deals, but to figure out where to eat and what to see and do.  It’s full of advice, recommendations and tips & tricks.  All stuff I learned traveling there for work for almost 15 years.  Hopefully people will find it helpful.

Anyway, you can find Las Vegas – Cheap and Easy on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords and soon on iBooks, Sony and Diesel.  If you’re headed to Vegas, check it out.  Can’t go wrong for $6.99.  You can get months of my hard work for the cost of a value meal.  Mmmm, Jumbaco!

Sick of the “99 Percent”

Are you as sick of these so-called 99% pukes as I am?  These people are the biggest bunch of losers ever.  Some have some legitimate gripes, like not bailing out banks, but the vast majority just want a handout.  They don’t want jobs or to work towards something better, they just want everything handed to them on a silver platter.

Plans By the Many, Not By the Few

It’s possible you’ve heard of Keynesian economics.  Maybe you even know who John Keynes was.  In any case, you’re experiencing his ideas first hand.  The failed stimulus, the bank and automaker bailouts, the printing of currency and the increasing debt and now the new American Jobs act proposed by Obama recently.  All rooted in Keynesian economics.

More Astrophotography

Finally the moon is far enough behind the sun to allow some good dark sky imaging.  I set out to shoot the Milky Way but the Big Dipper looked so pretty, I shot that too.  Here is the Milky Way.  This is the area directly overhead in northern latitudes right now, probably near Cygnus but I’m not positive.

Super Heroes or Crazy MFers?

Saw this on a fly fishing forum of all things and just has to post these for my readers.  Both of you.  Stunning!  These guys have balls the size of cantaloupe!  You can’t help but “ooh” and “aah” while watching these idiots.  Enjoy!

Freakin’ awesome, right?  All I can say is better them than me.

AP and Time Lapse

I finally collected everything I need to do a little astrophotography and time lapse once the UPS truck showed up yesterday afternoon with my tripod.  I wasted no time in trying out all my new stuff.

First, I set the camera up on the front porch and did a little shake down test doing a time lapse. Continue reading

2011 Vegetable Garden – Eh!

Garden at the end of August

I wanted to do more updates on the garden, but it turned out it wasn’t really interesting.  Things just aren’t growing as well as I’d hoped.  We are just now starting to get some veggies, but even those are few and far between.  Been kind of disappointing.  Lots of green stuff, but not as many veggies I would expect. Gibson Guitar to Uncle Sam – “From my cold, dead hands”

Gibson Guitar to Uncle Sam – “From my cold, dead hands”

For those that don’t know, I am a guitar player.  I’m a really shitty guitar player, but I play none the less.  This grabbed my attention, but not only because I like guitars, I’m actually a Fender player, but because this is wrong!  The government is using its considerable power to harass Gibson Guitars (see link above). The Simple Citizen

Maybe I’m a simpleton.  It has usually been my view that if you spend more money than you earn, that’s bad.  If you do it in the long-term, that’s very bad.  Throwing a purchase on the credit card you don’t plan to pay off at the end of the end of the month isn’t the end of the world, but maxing out three credit cards and then applying for two more is probably not a good idea.

Knowing this we’ve been treated to a solution, Washington style.  Only apply for one more credit card you plan on maxing out Continue reading

Jeep Swag

I’ve been fixing replacing some of the less glamorous parts of my Jeep that needed attention.  From the missing hood prop retainer to the shift boot bezel to fixing back up lights, I’ve done a lot but not much that is very exciting.  Well, that changed today.

Jeep Front

The new KC light mounts with lights, not to mention the clean hood free of pine pitch.

Nothing major yet like a lift or something, but a couple of easy upgrades that make the jeep look a little better.  First I took of the stupid light bar.  I hate those things, but at least it had about $300 in KC off-road lights mounted on it.  I decided to put two on the front bumper and two on the windshield hinges.
